Volcan Compañía Minera was recognized on Apr. 27 for the fifth consecutive year with the Yanapay Award in the “Environmental Initiative in Mining” category, granted by the Association for the Aid of Burned Children (Aniquem). The company said this recognition reflects its ongoing commitment to responsible environmental management and its support of high-impact social initiatives.
The award highlights Volcan’s efforts in managing unused materials from mining operations, which directly benefit Aniquem’s programs supporting child and adolescent burn survivors. According to Volcan, these initiatives are part of a broader approach to social responsibility within the mining sector.
Miguel Enríquez, Corporate Superintendent of Environmental Affairs at Volcan, also received recognition in the “Social Transformation Ambassadors” category. The company said this distinction highlights his leadership and contributions to projects that create value for society.
In 2025, Volcan donated 741 tons of unused materials—an increase of 70 percent compared to the previous year. This donation enabled funding for 500 therapy sessions, including physical, psychological, and occupational therapies that help children and adolescents recover and reintegrate into their communities.
The Yanapay Award honors companies, institutions, and individuals who demonstrate social responsibility through support for rehabilitation programs aimed at young burn survivors. The company said this achievement reaffirms its commitment to sustainable development goals by promoting responsible practices that generate shared value.
