Construction has started on a new Youth Cultural Center in the district of Huay-Huay, following an announcement by Volcan Compañía Minera and the Huay-Huay District Municipality on Apr. 1. The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by representatives from ProInversión, Mitracon, local authorities, and members of the Huay-Huay Community.
The project is titled “Improvement and Expansion of Cultural Services to Promote Community Participation in Cultural Industries and the Arts at the Youth Cultural Center of Huay-Huay District, Yauli Province, Junín Region.” It is being carried out through Peru’s Works for Taxes (Obras por Impuestos) mechanism with Volcan serving as the financing company.
The initiative aims to encourage cultural and artistic development among residents. The investment for this project is approximately PEN 6.8 million and it is expected to benefit more than 1,700 people living in the district.
Local authorities said during the ceremony that the new center will provide spaces for learning, engagement, and artistic expression for children, youth, and adults. They also said it will contribute to social and cultural development within Huay-Huay.
The completion of this center marks a significant step toward strengthening community ties through culture and arts. Organizers say they hope that similar projects can continue supporting local communities across other regions.
