The Faculty of Administrative Sciences at the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos (UNMSM) announced on March 20 that it will organize the “First International Congress on Scientific Research in the Era of Artificial Intelligence for Graduate Studies.” The event, scheduled from March 24 to 26, aims to address the challenges and opportunities that artificial intelligence presents for knowledge generation in graduate education.
The congress is expected to bring together university authorities, including vice-rectors of research and directors from various public and private universities. Participants will discuss ways to strengthen the quality and impact of science amid ongoing digital transformation.
Over three days, attendees will share experiences, present proposals, and debate how artificial intelligence is affecting scientific production and researcher training models. The event seeks to enhance scientific research within master’s and doctoral programs while promoting new investigative skills relevant to a rapidly changing digital landscape.
Javier Rojas Villanueva, Vice Dean of Research and Graduate Studies at UNMSM’s Faculty of Administrative Sciences, said: “The participation of this select group of experts is going to strengthen the didactic capacity of all our faculty professors and at the same time highlight not only our faculty but also our university.”
International speakers include Dr. Sergio Tobón from Colombia, who will deliver a keynote lecture titled “From Zero to Scopus: Scientific Research in the Era of Artificial Intelligence”; Dr. Enaydi Reynosa Navarro from Cuba, who will discuss methodological and ethical challenges for contemporary science; and Dr. Roberto Hernández Sampieri from Mexico, who will address problem formulation in quantitative, qualitative, and mixed research approaches virtually.
Peruvian participants such as Dr. Sixto Sánchez Calderón (president of Concytec), Rosa Flores Arévalo (representative from ENAP), Patricia Medina, and Víctor Fernández Bedoya are also set to speak about academic research challenges and applying scientific knowledge in public management.
The congress also aims to foster collaboration among universities, research centers, and state entities with a focus on strengthening research policies, improving scientific output quality, and encouraging responsible use of artificial intelligence in investigative processes.
The event will be inaugurated by Rector Dr. Jeri Ramón Ruffner alongside Vice Rectors Carlos Cabrera Carranza (Undergraduate Academic Affairs) and José Niño Montero (Research & Graduate Studies). Sessions are scheduled between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. at the Juan Carlos Heredia Chang Auditorium.
