The Faculty of Psychology at the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos (UNMSM) announced on April 17 its goal to achieve accreditation this year for its School of Organizational Psychology and Human Management (EPPOGH), which marked twelve years since its creation.

This initiative is seen as an important step toward strengthening academic quality and professional training within the university. UNMSM promotes cultural and social well-being through initiatives supporting responsibility, equity, inclusion, and sustainable development, according to the official website.

“Tengan optimismo en que vamos a lograr la acreditación y con ello vamos a generar más desarrollo para nuestra escuela,” said Lupe García Ampudia, dean of the faculty, during the anniversary ceremony held at EPPOGH’s main auditorium. Abel Cuzcano Zapata, director of EPPOGH, said that the school is currently undergoing an accreditation process with expectations to obtain recognition within 2026. “Tenemos como fin supremo de este año lograr la acreditación; por eso, estamos lanzando nuestro slogan ‘Unidos hacia nuestra acreditación’, lo cual reafirma nuestro compromiso con la calidad académica y la formación de profesionales líderes para el país,” he said.

Cuzcano also highlighted that their mission is “formar psicólogos líderes creativos, críticos y analíticos para contribuir al mejoramiento de la calidad de la vida laboral.” He added that over 300 students are trained by 40 teachers using a competency-based approach rooted in ethical values. Among current challenges are promoting mental health in organizations and developing tools for assessing workplace quality of life for people with different abilities.

Other participants included Julio Príncipe Portocarrero with a lecture titled “Más allá del cambio planeado,” Nedda García Luna who read out Resolution No. 01742-R-14 formalizing EPPOGH’s establishment in April 2014, as well as Eliza Yanac Reinoso and Leni Álvarez Taco from faculty leadership roles.

UNMSM operates multiple campuses including central facilities and provincial extensions according to the official website. The university leads public institutions in international rankings such as QS, Scimago, and Webometrics according to its official site. It offers eighty-one undergraduate programs alongside postgraduate options while focusing on research and community outreach according to information from its website.

As an autonomous public entity recognized by Peru’s constitution focused on advancing knowledge dissemination and national sustainable development according to the official website, UNMSM continues to prioritize educational advancement through such initiatives.
