The Ministry of Health, through the National Superintendency of Health (Susalud), organized a workshop on Apr. 29 in the Amazonas region to strengthen patient safety and ensure timely and quality care. The event, titled “Self-Management of Health Risks with the Risk Mitigation Plan – PMR 2026,” was aimed at both public and private health establishments.
The initiative is intended to improve standards in health services by providing practical tools for identifying, managing, and controlling risks that could affect users and service quality. The workshop took place at the headquarters of the Regional Government of Amazonas with active participation from DIRESA Amazonas and UDR-SIS Amazonas.
A total of 92 representatives from local health establishments attended, along with 13 specialists who led sessions focused on case analysis and tailoring action plans to each facility’s specific needs. According to organizers, this approach is expected to strengthen prevention efforts and reduce potential violations of patients’ rights.
Participants also exchanged experiences regarding their implementation of Risk Mitigation Plans (PMR), sharing lessons learned as well as progress made so far. At the conclusion of the event, attendees signed a commitment document outlining responsibilities, deadlines, and technical follow-up mechanisms designed to ensure ongoing improvements across the region.
Officials say this intervention demonstrates an ongoing commitment by the Ministry of Health to foster a culture centered on prevention that prioritizes patient welfare while promoting safer and more dignified healthcare services.
