Kalman Robotics, a startup founded by graduates of the National University of Engineering in Huancayo, announced on April 29 that it will officially launch its remote robotics laboratory platform in May. The company said the new platform will allow students to control physical robots in real time from their computers at any hour of the day.

The initiative aims to address the challenges posed by high equipment costs and limited specialization opportunities in robotics. According to Kalman Robotics, more than 50 students have already completed a pilot program, and over 300 people have participated in hands-on workshops at various universities.

The founding team includes Brayan Laura as chief executive officer, Ronaldo Lima as chief technology officer, and José Coronación as chief operating officer. The company received funding through ProInnóvate’s StartUp Perú contest under the Innovative Entrepreneurship category. The capital was used to improve real-time robot connectivity, redesign its user interface, and develop affordable educational kits for mobile robotics.

Kalman Robotics’ work is supported by ProInnóvate from the Ministry of Production. The Ministry promotes social inclusion and improved living conditions for fishermen and producers across Peru through harmonious development initiatives according to the official website. It serves producers, entrepreneurs and communities throughout Peru according to the official website.

The Ministry also oversees national policies for fishing, aquaculture and industry with an emphasis on sustainable development while supporting small enterprises. It provides technical assistance and training aimed at increasing productivity among producers and fishermen nationwide; these efforts have been recognized internationally by organizations such as the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development according to the official website.

Looking ahead, Kalman Robotics plans to begin its first specialization course focused on Mobile Robotics next month. This program is designed for sectors such as mining, agriculture, manufacturing and health care where robotics plays an important role.
