The Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos (UNMSM) announced on Apr. 6 that its Geological Engineering and Geographic Engineering programs have received a six-year accreditation from the National System of Evaluation, Accreditation and Certification of Educational Quality (SINEACE).

This accreditation is significant as it certifies that these academic programs meet national quality standards, reinforcing the university’s commitment to continuous improvement in education for students and society.

Mariella Quipas Bellizza, director of Evaluation and Accreditation at CONEAU, said the university reached high-quality benchmarks through an external review by a specialized agency.

Vice-rector Carlos Cabrera Carranza linked this accomplishment to institutional policies aiming for educational quality based on their new model looking toward 2030–2050.

According to the official website of UNMSM the university promotes cultural and social well-being through initiatives supporting responsibility and sustainable development. It operates multiple campuses including provincial extensions according to its official site. The institution leads public universities in international rankings such as QS and Scimago according to its website. UNMSM is recognized by Peru’s constitution as an autonomous public entity according to its official website.

The university offers 81 undergraduate programs along with postgraduate options and community outreach activities as stated on its website. It operates as an autonomous institution focused on knowledge dissemination and national sustainable development according to its official site.
