The Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos (UNMSM) held a welcome event for the incoming 2026 class of the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering on March 27. The event aimed to help new students integrate into university life and introduce them to the academic and professional focus of their respective schools.
Manuel Béjar Ramos, academic vice dean for undergraduate studies, and Jorge Reynaldo Angulo Cornejo, vice dean for research and postgraduate studies, addressed the new students. They highlighted the importance of education in science and engineering in contributing to national development.
During the program, Víctor Fernández Guzmán, director of the School of Water and Treatment Technologies, presented an overview of this specialty. He emphasized skills related to sustainability, technological innovation, and water resource management.
The day also featured a motivational panel titled “From Freshman to Professional.” Participants included Diana Sevilla Huaroncca (Chemical Engineering), Daniel Anlas Julcapari (Chemistry), and Laura Rondán Llacma (Agroindustrial Engineering). They shared their academic journeys and professional experiences with incoming students.
Neptalí Ale Borja, dean of the faculty, closed the event by reaffirming the faculty’s commitment to training highly qualified professionals who can address scientific, technological, and environmental challenges facing Peru. According to organizers, this initiative strengthens student integration at UNMSM while promoting education focused on knowledge creation, research activity, and sustainable development.
