The Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos (UNMSM) held a ceremony on Apr. 16 to honor Distinguished Figures, Outstanding Alumni, and Illustrious Alumni as part of its 475th anniversary celebrations. The event brought together university officials, graduates, and notable figures from across the country.
The recognition ceremony was led by Rector Dr. Jeri Gloria Ramón Ruffner de Vega, joined by other university authorities and representatives from government and cultural institutions. Honorees included historian Melecio Tineo Morón, academic Fray Rómulo Vásquez Gavidia, Brigadier General Juan Urbano Revilla, as well as professionals such as Félix Alberto Paz Quiroz and former Prime Minister Luis María Solari de la Fuente.
During her address, Ramón Ruffner de Vega said: “Today we pay tribute to careers that represent effort, excellence and commitment to Peru. Each of you reflects the San Marcos spirit that transforms realities through knowledge and service.” She also added: “San Marcos not only trains professionals but forms citizens with social awareness who can take on the country’s great challenges. This recognition is also a message for our new generations: the path of effort and excellence always opens doors.”
