The Servicio de Atención Móvil de Urgencia (SAMU) of Tumbes coordinated the successful air transfer of a critically ill patient to Lima for specialized medical treatment, according to a March 25 announcement. The operation involved collaboration between SAMU Tumbes, the Armed Forces, and the Hospital Regional José Alfredo Mendoza Olavarría II-2 (JAMO).

The patient was stabilized at Hospital Regional JAMO II-2 before being transported to Pedro Canga Rodríguez airport in Tumbes. From there, the individual was flown to Lima and admitted to the Central Military Hospital for further specialized care.

This case highlights the role of SAMU Tumbes in providing immediate and high-quality prehospital medical attention around the clock through its free hotline 106 and specialized mobile units. Officials said this type of coordination ensures safe and timely care for patients who require urgent transfers.

The operation demonstrates strong inter-institutional cooperation among SAMU Tumbes, Hospital Regional JAMO II-2, and the Armed Forces. Authorities say such efforts are aimed at guaranteeing quality healthcare services for residents in the region.
