The Ministry of Transport and Communications, through the National Program for Sustainable Urban Transport (Promovilidad), held participatory workshops in Juliaca on March 18 to identify key urban mobility issues affecting the city and its districts.

The initiative aims to gather input from various sectors of the community to better understand local transportation challenges. The workshops were organized in coordination with the Provincial Municipality of San Román – Juliaca and took place at different locations across the area, allowing organizers to collect information and perspectives rooted in local realities.

Participants included representatives from public institutions, social organizations, transport operators, technical specialists, and citizens involved in urban mobility. They shared their experiences and contributions to help build a comprehensive diagnosis of Juliaca’s current mobility situation.

Fidel Salas Apaza, president of the Organization of Transporters (ORDET) of Juliaca, said these participatory spaces are important because they “allow us to make visible the reality faced by the city and contribute to building a vision for its urban development.”

According to officials, these efforts are part of ongoing actions by the Ministry of Transport and Communications to strengthen urban mobility planning nationwide. The ministry is working on developing a Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (PMUS) aimed at promoting safer, more inclusive, and sustainable transportation systems for residents.
