The Ministry of Production (PRODUCE) and the Association of Microfinance Institutions of Peru (ASOMIF) signed an inter-institutional cooperation agreement on March 20 aimed at supporting the development of micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (Mipyme). The signing ceremony included Juan Carlos Requejo Alemán, Paola Masías Barreda, president of ASOMIF’s Advisory Council, and Ana Pinto Valdivia, general manager.
The agreement sets out guidelines for collaboration to implement technical training programs focused on adopting circular economy practices. These trainings will cover key topics such as efficient resource use, solid waste management, conversion of polluting industries, application of clean technologies, and the development of circular business models. The goal is to help Mipyme improve their competitiveness and facilitate access to financing.
During the event, the Deputy Minister for MYPE and Industry said that this partnership will create concrete opportunities for Mipyme to move toward more sustainable and competitive business models. “Today we sign an agreement that reflects a shared vision: to promote the development of our Mipyme by facilitating their access to financing and supporting them in their transition towards more sustainable practices,” he said.
He also said it is important to coordinate efforts with the microfinance system in order to expand financial inclusion in the country. “This alliance represents the State’s ability to bring real tools closer to entrepreneurs, facilitating their growth and strengthening their resilience,” he added.
Through this initiative, greater coordination with microfinance institutions will be promoted so that more Mipyme can access financial products suited to their needs. This is expected to contribute to their strengthening and expansion in increasingly competitive markets. PRODUCE reaffirmed its commitment to continue promoting partnerships that generate opportunities, encourage sustainability, and strengthen Mipyme as a key driver of Peru’s economy.
ASOMIF is a non-profit organization made up of 15 microfinance institutions regulated by the Superintendency of Banking, Insurance and Pension Fund Administrators. Founded in 2007, its purpose is to promote responsible financial inclusion and sustainable sector development.
