A forum for presidential candidates was held on March 17, bringing together 26 contenders to discuss their main government proposals for the next five years. The event was organized by the Union of Guilds and the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos (UNMSM), with support from Grupo El Comercio and América Multimedia, at the headquarters of the National Society of Industries.
The forum aimed to provide a democratic space for dialogue focused on productive development and reducing social gaps in the country. Leading candidates such as Keiko Fujimori, Rafael López Aliaga, and Alfonso López Chau participated alongside others currently prominent in opinion polls.
During individual interventions, candidates addressed key topics including economic recovery, promoting private investment, improving access to quality basic services, and strengthening priority sectors such as public safety, health, education, and youth-oriented policies. Specialists and representatives from various sectors also took part by posing questions and offering technical analysis of the proposals presented.
Notable participants among the specialists included Pola Guanilo (first vice president of SNI), Maritza Montero (first vice president of CANATUR), Ramiro Salas (president of CCL), César Tello (president of ADEX), as well as UNMSM professors Miguel Ángel Beretta Cisneros and Raúl Chanamé Orbe. Student Sebastián Rojas Dueñas represented the university community.
According to organizers, this initiative sought to strengthen democracy by promoting transparency, access to information, and exchange of ideas during a decisive electoral period for the country’s future. The UNMSM reaffirmed its role as “Decana de América,” supporting spaces for knowledge generation and democratic debate focused on analyzing proposals that contribute to productive development and closing social gaps.
