The Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (PUCP) welcomed thousands of students, professors, and university officials to its campus on March 23 as the new academic semester began.
University authorities visited classrooms in the morning to greet students and mark the beginning of the academic cycle. The group included Rector Dr. Julio del Valle, Academic Vice-Rector Dr. Waldo Mendoza, Research Vice-Rector Dr. Eduardo Ismodes, Director of Academic Planning and Evaluation Dr. Augusta Valle, Director of Institutional Relations María Antonieta Delgado, Director of Social Responsibility Dr. María Angélica Pease, and Director of Student Affairs Sylvana Valdivia.
Before classes started, more than 2,000 first-year students attended welcome ceremonies with their families on March 20 and 21. These events were led by Rector Del Valle and Student Affairs Director Valdivia over three separate ceremonies aimed at celebrating new beginnings and helping students connect with each other as they take their first steps toward their goals.
According to PUCP’s leadership, these incoming students are starting their university life with a focus on both academic excellence and well-being within a supportive community.
The broader significance is that this annual tradition helps foster a sense of belonging among new members while reinforcing PUCP’s commitment to holistic education.
