The Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú announced on Apr. 9 that it will provide special accommodations for students, faculty, and administrative staff during the General Elections scheduled for Sunday, April 12.
These measures are intended to help members of the university community fulfill their civic duties while maintaining academic activities. The campus will serve as a polling station, but classes and academic events on Saturday, April 11 and Monday, April 13 will proceed as usual.
Administrative staff and faculty serving as polling officials are entitled to one non-working day by mutual agreement with their departments upon presentation of an official certificate from ONPE. Students who serve in this role will not be penalized for tardiness or absences on Monday, April 13 if they present the appropriate accreditation to their instructors. Those traveling to other regions between Friday, April 10 and Monday, April 13 to vote must coordinate with their units or instructors in advance and justify any absence with supporting documents.
Volunteers from Asociación Civil Transparencia or party observers will receive similar accommodations once accredited. The Academic Directorate of Social Responsibility will inform academic units about students registered as volunteers. Exams scheduled between Friday and Monday may be rescheduled at the discretion of each instructor either for affected individuals or entire classes. Faculty who fall under these provisions can also reschedule classes or conduct them virtually.
