The Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú announced on March 30 the death of Dr. Jorge Mendoza Woodman, who served as head of the Academic Department of Management Sciences and was a professor at the Faculty of Management and Senior Leadership.
Dr. Mendoza’s passing is significant for the university community, given his close presence and strong commitment to academic development. The university said he “impulsed initiatives and workspaces that reflected his vision and dedication” during his recent tenure as department head, adding that “his teaching work and involvement with students and colleagues leave a significant legacy that will endure in institutional memory.”
Mendoza was also a member of the Council of the Faculty of Management and Senior Leadership, coordinator for internationalization, consultant, researcher in organizational management, and specialized in strategic planning, systemic leadership, and managerial skills development. His academic contributions included research on family business leadership, creative industries management, and case studies about organizations.
He held a doctorate in Strategic Management from the Consortium of Universities of Peru, a Master of Arts in Organisational Analysis from Grubb Institute/University of East London, an MBA from Universidad ESAN, and dedicated over 15 years to service at Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú through teaching, research, and university administration.
The statement concluded: “Our University says goodbye to a colleague, teacher and friend. Especially from the Faculty of Management and Senior Leadership we thank Professor Jorge Mendoza for his dedication, generosity and valuable contribution to professional training and development.” The university expressed condolences to his family members as well as friends who mourn his loss.
