The Ministry of Agricultural Development and Irrigation announced on March 18 that it has delivered more than S/141.8 million in loans to small agricultural producers through the Agroperú Fund so far in 2026. The ministry said these loans, totaling 9,251 credits, have benefited over 9,203 farmers across 24 regions.

This initiative aims to boost agricultural financing for small producers, helping them improve their economic situation and secure necessary supplies and seeds. According to the ministry, the regions with the highest number of credits are Puno (1,591), Cajamarca (1,537), Amazonas (856), San Martín (657), Cusco (534), and Apurímac (423).

To further support access to financing, the ministry is conducting in-person workshops nationwide through its Directorate General of Associativity, Financial Services and Insurance. Specialists provide detailed information about requirements and benefits for accessing Agroperú Fund loans during these sessions.

In Arequipa alone, more than 10,587 credits amounting to S/. 187.6 million have been granted by the Agroperú Fund since 2020. A recent workshop held in Caravelí brought together MIDAGRI officials and Agrobanco representatives as part of a session titled “Business associativity: financing opportunities with the Agroperú Fund and agricultural insurance.” During this event, local small-scale farmers received key information about available financing alternatives designed to enhance competitiveness and organizational development.

The workshops also addressed agricultural insurance options—tools considered essential for protecting crops against climate risks and ensuring continued production. The Directorate General plans to intensify training efforts with upcoming sessions scheduled for Andahuaylas on March 19, Chincheros on March 25, and Abancay on March 27.

Small organized producers seeking credit from the Agroperú Fund must meet certain requirements: they should be members of an association; have no negative credit history or a rating equal or better than CPP (Client with Potential Problems); possess documentation proving land ownership or use; among other criteria. Interested individuals can visit Agrobanco offices for evaluation and guidance regarding eligible funds.
