The Ministry of Agricultural Development and Irrigation (MIDAGRI) announced on March 17 that the Warmi Tarpuy Agrarian Cooperative from Apurímac has secured a sale of 50 tons of quinoa, both organic and conventional, for export to the Netherlands.

This development is part of MIDAGRI’s efforts through Agromercado to strengthen family farming by providing technical assistance, training, and commercial support.

The ministry highlighted that this shipment marks the third time organic quinoa from Peru has been sent to Europe as a result of collaboration between public and private sectors led by MIDAGRI, Agromercado, AGROBANCO, and the NGO CESAL. The initiative aims to boost competitiveness among small Andean grain producers and expand the presence of Peruvian organic quinoa in international markets.

MIDAGRI also reported that Agromercado co-organized the Tenth National Meeting of Andean Grain Producers and an associated business roundtable in Andahuaylas. These events brought together three potential national buyers and six international buyers to facilitate this latest export. The cooperative received technical assistance in organic certification and fair trade practices as well as training in preparing commercial documents and market analysis.

Warmi Tarpuy consists of 85 members—80 percent women—who cultivate certified organic quinoa on 118 hectares. In previous years, they exported products to Italy and the United States. To meet growing demand abroad in 2025, Warmi Tarpuy obtained financing from AGROPERÚ’s Collection and Commercialization Fund through Agrobanco.

The ministry said these actions demonstrate its commitment to supporting responsible family agriculture while helping local producers access new markets.
