The Ministry of Agricultural Development and Irrigation (MIDAGRI) announced on March 21 that Peruvian agricultural exports exceeded USD 15 billion by the end of 2025, reinforcing the country’s position in demanding international markets such as the European Union.
This achievement is attributed to Peru’s consistent adherence to high safety standards, which has enabled products like blueberries, grapes, avocados, asparagus, and cocoa to reach global markets with recognized quality and safety. MIDAGRI said this positions Peru as a reliable food supplier.
MIDAGRI stated that through the National Agrarian Health Service (SENASA), it ensures strict sanitary and phytosanitary measures throughout the production chain. This approach aims to strengthen international market confidence in Peruvian products.
The ministry also highlighted ongoing coordination with health authorities in destination countries. This cooperation allows for transparent management aligned with international trade requirements.
In efforts to reinforce the national health system during 2025, SENASA conducted more than 3,500 inspections overseeing the sale of agricultural inputs and seized over two tons of prohibited products. These actions are intended to protect consumer health and maintain agricultural production quality.
Additionally, guidelines for post-registration programs for agricultural pesticides are being updated. The updates include training and technical assistance for producers and supply chain participants under sanitary authority supervision.
According to MIDAGRI, these initiatives reflect its commitment to promoting competitive and sustainable agriculture that meets international standards. The ministry said this creates greater opportunities for thousands of producers while consolidating Peru’s role as a trusted partner in global food security.
