José Reyes, Peru’s Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, met with Rafael Torres, president of the Brazil-Peru Chamber of Commerce (Cambraper), to discuss proposals aimed at strengthening trade between the two countries. The meeting took place as part of the ministry’s open-door policy on March 31.
The dialogue is significant as it reflects ongoing efforts by Peru to boost its international commerce and foster closer relations with key partners like Brazil. Both sides focused on evaluating strategies that could enhance the exchange of goods and services.
During the meeting, Reyes reaffirmed Peru’s commitment to an open trade policy and highlighted the government’s interest in reinforcing commercial ties with its main partners. “El ministro de Comercio Exterior y Turismo, José Reyes, se reunió con el presidente de la Cámara de Comercio Brasil-Perú (Cambraper), Rafael Torres, con el objetivo de evaluar diversas propuestas para fortalecer el intercambio comercial entre ambos países,” said officials from Mincetur.
The discussions also covered activities involving private sector participation designed to deepen bilateral economic relations. Cambraper’s ongoing initiatives were noted as contributing factors in these efforts.
Reyes was joined by César Llona, Vice Minister of Foreign Trade, and Luis Mesías, Chief Advisor at Mincetur during this meeting. The ministry said such engagements are part of a broader approach to encourage collaboration with important stakeholders in international commerce.
