The Ministry of Health of Peru announced on March 19 that it has completed six regional workshops aimed at updating the Multiannual Maintenance Plan for Infrastructure and Equipment in Health Establishments for the period 2025-2027. The initiative is designed to strengthen the management of maintenance for medical infrastructure and equipment nationwide.

The workshops, held from March 3 to March 19 across six locations in Peru, brought together technical teams from various regions and health sector units. Participants received technical assistance to enhance planning for maintenance in hospitals, institutes, and health centers.

The first session took place from March 3 to March 6 at the National Rehabilitation Institute in Lima, involving technical teams from thirty executing units within the Ministry of Health in Lima, as well as representatives from Callao and the National Institute of Health. Subsequent sessions were held simultaneously in Lambayeque and Arequipa between March 10 and March 12, with participation from several northern and southern regions. Additional workshops occurred at the National Institute of Child Health in San Borja for teams from Lima region and other central-southern areas between March 16 and March 18. The final sessions were conducted in Huánuco and San Martín from March 17 to March 19, gathering participants from eastern regions.

During these events, specialists provided technical guidance, reviewed specialized information, and supported the formulation of updated maintenance plans. The goal was to ensure that all regions have effective tools for planning infrastructure and equipment upkeep at their health facilities.

Activities included technical presentations, practical sessions, and specialized assistance intended to build regional capacity for managing maintenance processes. Organizers said this effort will help deliver safer, more efficient, and continuous healthcare services throughout Peru.

According to the Ministry of Health’s statement, “The Multiannual Maintenance Plan for Infrastructure and Equipment in Health Establishments is a key instrument for planning and prioritizing maintenance interventions in hospitals, institutes, and health centers, ensuring better conditions for care delivery and continuity of health services nationwide.”
