The Ministry of Energy and Mines (MINEM) announced on April 27 that mining investments in Peru surpassed $871 million during January and February, marking a 35.7% increase compared to the same period last year. The ministry said this growth was mainly driven by infrastructure, mining equipment, and exploration activities.

Investment in mining equipment totaled $91 million for the month, representing an increase of 115% over February last year. Exploration saw investments climb to $52 million—32.7% higher than a year ago—while development and preparation activities received $72 million (a yearly increase of 68.1%).

Investments related to beneficiation plants amounted to $71 million in February—a gain of 18.4% compared with the same month last year—and other categories saw spending reach $39 million (up by 26.4%).
