The Ministry of Health of Peru announced on Apr. 28 that citizens can now obtain a Mental Health Certificate on the same day as their appointment at the Honorio Delgado – Hideyo Noguchi National Institute of Mental Health. The ministry said this service is designed to help people with work, academic, or travel requirements.

The new process allows individuals over 18 years old to receive their certificate after an in-person evaluation by mental health professionals. The ministry said the service costs S/ 51.83 and requires applicants to bring valid identification to the institute’s reception desk starting at 8:00 a.m. Spots are limited and assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.

If all spots are filled during operating hours, appointments will be scheduled for the following day to ensure continued access, according to the announcement. The ministry also clarified that this certificate cannot be used for judicial expertise or specialized legal evaluations but is intended only for personal, work-related, academic, or travel purposes.

“In this way, the Ministry of Health (Minsa) and the Honorio Delgado – Hideyo Noguchi National Institute of Mental Health reaffirm their commitment to bringing timely and accessible mental health services closer to the population, promoting overall well-being,” said officials in a statement.

More information about obtaining the certificate is available through the official government website.
