The Ministry of Health of Peru announced on Apr. 23 that it has intensified immunization campaigns against measles, focusing on vulnerable populations in the district of Chorrillos. The efforts are led by the Directorate of Integrated Health Networks (Diris) Lima Sur and include strategic vaccination sessions at locations such as the Buenos Aires de Villa Maternal and Child Center.
The campaign aims to contain the spread of measles, a highly contagious disease, and to protect groups at higher risk, including children, adolescents, and other vulnerable individuals. According to health authorities, immunization brigades have been activated and rapid response strategies deployed in areas with greater exposure.
The Buenos Aires de Villa Maternal and Child Center has become a key site for these intensified vaccination sessions. The Ministry said that timely intervention at such locations directly reduces the risk of community transmission.
These actions coincide with Vaccination Week in the Americas 2026, which will take place from April 25 to May 3. The event is seen as an important opportunity to intensify vaccination activities, address incomplete immunization schedules, and strengthen public trust in vaccines.
Officials from the Ministry reaffirmed their commitment to public health by promoting coordinated actions aimed at protecting life and well-being across all segments of society.
