The Ministry of Health in Peru announced on April 21 that recognizing early signs of workplace stress is important for protecting mental health. The ministry said daily work situations can create high demands, which, if not managed well, may affect mental wellbeing.
This issue matters because unaddressed stress can lead to more serious mental health problems and impact both job performance and quality of life. The ministry identified warning signs such as anxiety, irritability, extreme tiredness, and trouble concentrating. Detecting these symptoms early allows people to take preventive steps.
Specialists from the Ministry of Health say emotional wellbeing is key for effective work performance and a good quality of life. They recommend paying attention to these indicators and seeking support when needed.
Pablo Altamirano, a specialist at the Directorate of Mental Health at the Ministry of Health, said: “Las pausas activas son beneficiosas. Se recomienda acumular entre 30 y 60 minutos semanales, de manera flexible. Incluso pausas diarias de 5 a 10 minutos pueden contribuir significativamente a una mejor salud mental en el trabajo.”
Altamirano also suggested respecting rest times, maintaining healthy habits, and encouraging good communication in the workplace as part of achieving balance between responsibilities and personal wellbeing.
