The Ministry of Education of Peru announced on April 1 that it has partnered with Rinsa Inc. to carry out improvements at the Virgen de las Mercedes School in Pimentel, Lambayeque, as part of its Abraza tu Cole initiative.

This partnership led to a corporate volunteer event focused on painting classrooms for early education students. The goal was to quickly enhance learning conditions by providing safer and more welcoming spaces for both students and teachers. According to the ministry, this activity is one example of minor maintenance projects promoted through strategic alliances with private companies.

Further contributions are being planned for the school, including upgrades to green areas and potential additions of play materials designed to support children’s development during their formative years.

Minister of Education María Esther Cuadros said these interventions demonstrate the sector’s commitment “with a more decentralized education and with better conditions for teaching and learning throughout the country.” She added, “From the Ministry we are promoting partnerships that turn commitment into visible results for public schools. Each contribution helps close gaps, strengthen educational decentralization, and improve spaces where our teachers teach and our students learn to become tomorrow’s leaders.”

The Abraza tu Cole strategy aims to channel private support toward prioritized needs in public schools based on order, coordination, and territorial impact criteria. The ministry said this approach enables concrete improvements in infrastructure, furniture, and educational initiatives that directly benefit school communities.
