The Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC), through its executing unit Provías Descentralizado (PVD), trained 210 public officials from regional and local governments in environmental management applied to road infrastructure projects, according to a March 20 announcement.

The training aimed to strengthen knowledge of environmental regulations to improve the management of environmental instruments, supporting more efficient and timely execution of road works. The sessions were conducted in a mixed format, both virtually and in person.

During the final session, Víctor Mendoza Cadenillas, technical secretary of PVD, addressed the participants. “From your institutions, you will be part of the decisions that define how road infrastructure projects are planned and executed in the country. Your work will have a direct impact on the quality of life of thousands of Peruvians,” Mendoza Cadenillas said.

This initiative is part of actions implemented under the Regional Competitiveness Road Infrastructure Program (Proregión). Other efforts include specialized programs in investment project formulation and evaluation (Invierte.pe), public procurement training, and promoting technical training for women in heavy machinery operation.

Provías Descentralizado says it remains committed to strengthening institutional capacities at regional and local government levels. The agency aims to foster more efficient, sustainable, and coordinated transport management, especially in areas influenced by Feeder Road Corridors.
