The Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) announced on April 1 that it will hold the “Macrorregional Centro 2026” training workshop for public officials on April 15 and 16 at the auditorium of the Daniel Alomía Robles National University in Huánuco.

The workshop aims to improve environmental management practices for transportation projects across several regions. The event is organized by specialists from MTC’s General Directorate of Environmental Affairs (DGAAM) and targets technical teams from the regional governments of Huánuco, Junín, Pasco, Huancavelica, Ica, Ucayali, and Lima. The Regional Government of Huánuco is supporting MTC with organizing the training session.

According to MTC, “the knowledge and capacities of regional technical teams responsible for evaluating Environmental Management Instruments (IGA) in the transport sector will be strengthened for effective exercise of environmental competencies transferred by MTC.” The sessions will include both technical presentations and practical activities focused on procedures such as evaluation of Environmental Impact Declarations (DIA) and Socio-Environmental Technical Files (FITSA).

Topics covered during the workshop will include admissibility procedures, applicable environmental regulations, project typology and classification, preparation and assessment of socio-environmental baselines, identification and evaluation of environmental impacts, development of environmental management plans, mechanisms for citizen participation, land impact planning, as well as aspects related to supervision, enforcement actions, and administrative sanctioning processes.

Participants will also engage in practical case studies, group work sessions focusing on management indicator reporting methods. There will be opportunities for exchanging experiences among technical teams from different regional governments.

The initiative seeks to enhance coordination between national authorities and regional governments regarding sustainable transport project development.
