The Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) announced on March 16 that the Superintendence of Land Transport of People, Cargo and Goods (Sutran) has removed 27 vehicles providing unauthorized passenger transport services from circulation. The action is part of daily enforcement operations aimed at strengthening road safety and protecting highway users.
These enforcement efforts resulted in the detection of vehicles operating without the required authorization from the competent authority. Each vehicle was issued a control record F.1 in accordance with current regulations.
The routine and inter-institutional operations were carried out with support from the National Police of Peru, as well as participation from agencies such as the Urban Transport Authority for Lima and Callao (ATU) and the National Superintendency for Control of Security Services, Weapons, Ammunition, and Explosives for Civilian Use (Sucamec), among others.
Sutran personnel led these inspections at strategic points along the national road network, including Chilca (km 66 of Panamericana Sur), Canta, Trapiche in Comas (km 22 of Panamericana Norte), Peaje Villa in Villa El Salvador, Ramiro Prialé Highway in El Agustino, and San Bartolo district.
As part of measures to prevent continued irregular operation by these units, sixteen vehicles were impounded at Sutran depots located on Panamericana Norte, Panamericana Sur, and on the Lima–Canta highway.
The MTC said these actions are intended to ensure compliance with transportation regulations and improve safety for all road users.
