The Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) announced on March 31 that more than 1,500 security operations have been carried out on Line 1 of the Lima Metro. These actions are being conducted in coordination with the Railway Police of the National Police of Peru to ensure a safe, orderly, and reliable service for users.

The increased number of interventions is part of an action plan aimed at strengthening safety measures at stations and aboard trains, especially during periods when passenger numbers are higher. The goal is to improve the ability to respond quickly to any incidents that may occur during service.

Patrols, control activities, and surveillance efforts have been intensified across various points along Line 1. As a result of these joint efforts, authorities report that 70 individuals have been detained. This supports ongoing initiatives designed to maintain order and protect the more than 600,000 daily users who rely on this mode of transportation.

Line 1 recently reached a significant milestone by surpassing 1.6 billion passengers transported over its fourteen years in operation. It has become one of Lima’s main urban transport systems and connects riders across eleven districts.

The Ministry said it remains committed to pursuing a permanent preventive strategy focused on ensuring safer formal public transportation and safeguarding the well-being of all passengers.
