The Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) announced on Mar. 24 that it conducted 758 inspections across the country’s ports during 2025 through the National Port Authority. The inspections are aimed at strengthening the safety of Peru’s National Port System amid increasing activity in foreign trade.
The initiative is intended to ensure secure and reliable operations at maritime terminals, reflecting the growing importance of safe port operations for Peru’s economy. According to MTC, these efforts help prevent risks and support a modern, efficient port system aligned with international quality standards.
The actions included technical audits and verifications to assess compliance with international standards and current regulations. Specifically, there were 58 port protection audits under the International Ship and Port Facility Security Code (ISPS), 55 focused on port security, 46 at special port facilities, and 54 checks related to Operational Continuity Plans designed for emergency preparedness.
Additionally, authorities carried out 545 operational supervisions nationwide—275 targeting port protection measures and another 270 focused on overall safety conditions during maritime activities. These interventions prioritized key commercial connection points throughout Peru.
