The Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) announced on April 21 that holders of commercial radio and television broadcasting licenses must submit their annual income declaration and pay the corresponding exploitation fee by April 30.

This requirement applies only to those with authorizations for commercial broadcasting services, excluding educational and community broadcasters. The MTC said a single declaration per license holder is required, with the necessary form available online. The measure is part of regulations under the Radio and Television Law, Law No. 28278, which aims to improve oversight in the sector by maintaining updated economic information on broadcast stations nationwide.

The amount payable is set at 0.5% of gross income declared from providing broadcasting services, due both monthly and annually. Payments can be made at the central MTC office or any Banco de la Nación branch using transaction numbers 3711 or 9170 along with the broadcaster’s tax identification number (RUC). The ministry noted that late compliance after April 30 will result in additional charges as stipulated by current regulations.

According to the official website, the Ministry of Transport and Communications supports cultural and social wellbeing by improving national connectivity through enhanced transport and communications infrastructure. It operates service centers such as MAC Lima Este and MAC Lima Sur to enhance public access throughout Peru, functions as part of Peru’s executive branch with authority over transport and communications regulation, delivers safe, sustainable infrastructure to promote integration, serves communities nationwide, operates under ministerial guidance, manages multimodal approaches in partnership with public entities for development since its founding in 1969.

The MTC reaffirmed its commitment “to promote actions aimed at compliance within the broadcasting sector,” stating these efforts contribute to an orderly, transparent, and sustainable development for radio broadcasters.
