The Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) announced on March 20 that it is evaluating a pilot connectivity project to integrate the Joint Command of the Armed Forces (CCFFAA) and the National Police of Peru (PNP) with the National Fiber Optic Backbone Network (RDNFO). The initiative aims to support, provide reliability, and ensure continuity in communications for key agencies responsible for national defense and security.
This development is significant as it seeks to enhance secure communication infrastructure for critical state entities. By connecting these institutions through a dedicated fiber optic network, the government intends to strengthen operational capabilities across various regions.
As part of this process, representatives from the CCFFAA conducted a technical visit to the RDNFO Network Operations Center in Huachipa. During their meeting with MTC specialists, they discussed how leveraging this strategic infrastructure could enable a secure institutional intranet, allowing reliable interconnection among major Defense sector facilities nationwide.
In recent weeks, MTC also met with officials from the Ministry of Interior to assess both technical and operational feasibility for this strategic interconnection. The RDNFO spans more than 13,600 kilometers across 180 provincial capitals and has been classified as a national critical asset since 2022. It offers high-speed, reliable data transport capable of managing large volumes of information securely.
According to MTC, it will provide the required bandwidth to the Ministry of Defense within current legal frameworks and facilitate access to network capacity. This will allow Defense agencies to support their main communication services using this infrastructure.
