The projects are aimed at improving connectivity and supporting economic development for residents in the area. During the meeting, officials reviewed updates on road, airport, and railway infrastructure efforts.
One highlighted project is the Chinchero International Airport. The MTC said construction of the control tower is underway, with contract awards expected in April and signing scheduled for May 2026. Regarding the Chinchero–Urubamba Railway segment, authorities confirmed that a Memorandum of Understanding has been sent to Korea for final approval, which will allow further progress on this initiative.
Updates were also provided on the final study for the Cusco–Chinchero–Urubamba highway. For the San Francisco Bridge project, consultations are ongoing and contract awards are anticipated in April 2026. Additionally, an inspection is planned for the Negromayo–Yauri–San Genaro road to complete authorization processes and finalize studies by June 2026.
The MTC said these efforts reaffirm its commitment to developing road, airport, and rail infrastructure to enhance connectivity and quality of life for people living in Cusco.
