The Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) announced on April 7 that it organized a series of participatory workshops in Pucallpa, working with the Provincial Municipality of Coronel Portillo. The initiative aimed to gather input from citizens and improve urban transportation in the city.
These workshops brought together social actors, authorities, union representatives, and specialists who shared their experiences about moving around the city. Participants discussed main challenges such as traffic congestion, informal transportation services, and difficulties for pedestrians.
According to the MTC, this space helped identify opportunities to enhance public transport services and pedestrian mobility based on users’ daily experiences. The ministry said these efforts are intended to promote a more orderly, safe, and inclusive city.
The exchange of ideas combined with technical analysis is expected to help build proposals that benefit pedestrians, cyclists, and public transport users. “With these actions, the MTC through Promovilidad reaffirms its commitment to continue working alongside the Provincial Municipality of Coronel Portillo towards a more efficient, safe and sustainable transportation system in Pucallpa,” the ministry said.
