The Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) announced on March 24 that it is taking steps to guarantee safe and continuous travel along the Los Libertadores highway. Juan del Carmen Haro Muñoz, Deputy Minister of Transport, met with Congressman Germán Tacuri Valdivia to coordinate urgent actions for this key road corridor connecting San Clemente (Pisco) with Ayacucho.

During the meeting, Haro said that critical points along the route have been identified where heavy machinery will be deployed to restore traffic conditions. “Estamos organizando las intervenciones para recuperar la transitabilidad lo más pronto posible,” Haro said. He explained that due to an emergency declaration, Provías Nacional will oversee these efforts and work will begin soon.

Congressman Tacuri emphasized the importance of the agreements reached with MTC in ensuring a rapid response to community needs. “Agradezco a las autoridades por atender nuestro pedido. Hay una plena disposición para resolver esta situación y poner en marcha las obras en el menor tiempo,” Tacuri said.

The MTC stated that these actions are part of its commitment to improving connectivity and supporting citizens’ well-being. The planned interventions on Los Libertadores highway aim to provide safer and more efficient travel while contributing to development and integration in southern Peru.
