The Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) announced on March 20 that it has completed rehabilitation work at kilometer 337+400 of the Panamericana Sur highway, located in the district of Ocucaje, Ica region. The project was carried out by Provías Nacional, a unit under the MTC, and restores full transitability at this critical point, ensuring safe and efficient passage for both light vehicles and heavy cargo transport.

According to the ministry, the final phase involved laying 70 cubic meters of cold asphalt mix over a total area of 690 square meters. The technical process began with cleaning and preparing the ground to ensure proper adhesion of materials. A layer of asphalt with a thickness of 10 centimeters was then applied, meeting road conservation standards for durability and resistance. Heavy machinery was used during leveling and compaction stages to leave the road surface in optimal condition for traffic.

Looking ahead, the sector plans to implement long-term engineering solutions to reduce the impact of natural factors. In this context, authorities will manage the installation of a modular bridge in this area. This structure is designed to allow water to pass beneath the highway, preventing future landslides or mudslides from compromising infrastructure again.

The MTC said it maintains a constant deployment of specialized personnel and heavy machinery at various strategic points across the country to respond immediately to any road emergency. These actions are intended to keep Peru’s National Road Network operational and in suitable condition, supporting economic and social development for all citizens.
