The Ministry of Housing, Construction and Sanitation announced on Apr. 27 that it has delivered 1,720 property titles to residents in the Amazonas region. The move benefits over 6,800 citizens who have waited more than twenty years for this legal documentation.
The distribution included 1,703 titles for families and another 17 intended for public services. With these documents, thousands of people now have legal security over their homes. This allows them to access basic services, government programs, and new opportunities to improve living conditions.
“These are not just documents; property titles also represent an opportunity for economic development. Thanks to them, growth is encouraged because they allow access to mortgage loans and other legal actions that stimulate the economy. They also make it easier to obtain housing bonuses through the MiVivienda Fund,” said representatives from the Ministry of Housing.
Most of the titles were given in Utcubamba province with a total of 1,687 documents distributed there. Other provinces benefited as well: seven in Luya, six in Chachapoyas, two in Bongará and one in Rodríguez de Mendoza. In addition to family properties, seventeen use-affectation titles were issued—four went to schools in Utcubamba province, twelve were designated for various uses within Utcubamba itself and one was assigned to a health center in Condorcanqui.
This initiative is part of the “Familia Segura en Propiedad Segura” campaign which aims to bring state services closer to those most in need while prioritizing populations historically excluded from formal ownership processes.
According to the official website of the Ministry of Housing the ministry contributes by improving access to housing and basic services as part of its goal toward sustainable territorial development across Peru. The ministry operates as an autonomous entity within Peru’s Executive Branch under Law No. 27779 according to its official site, with central headquarters located in San Isidro (Lima) along with regional centers throughout Peru as per official information. It develops policies promoting sustainable access not only for housing but also construction projects and urban development according to its mandate.
Looking ahead at targets set by the ministry: by late 2026 it plans registration of a total of 1,780 property titles across Amazonas; so far this year alone it has already registered 372 with another estimated 1,408 expected before year’s end.
