The Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) announced on April 4 a temporary restriction on heavy cargo vehicles along the Central Highway, aiming to ensure a safe and orderly return for thousands of citizens traveling back to Lima after the Easter holiday.
This measure is intended to support smooth travel between the coast and central highlands, providing five alternative routes for drivers. These include routes suitable for both light vehicles and trucks with up to three axles, as well as some exclusively for light vehicles. The restriction applies specifically between kilometer 19 (Ñaña) and kilometer 145 (Centro Poblado Pucará), from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 5.
According to the official website, the Ministry of Transport and Communications supports cultural and social wellbeing by improving national connectivity and accessibility through enhanced transport and communications infrastructure. The ministry also operates service centers such as MAC Lima Este and MAC Lima Sur in order to enhance public access, according to the official website.
