The Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) announced on April 24 that it responded immediately to a landslide that destroyed the Michuchaca modular bridge in Calabaza, Pampa Hermosa district, Satipo province, Junín region. Heavy machinery was deployed from 4:00 a.m. at kilometer 154 of the national route PE-24A to clear debris and restore traffic.
This incident has disrupted connectivity for local residents, highlighting the importance of maintaining reliable infrastructure. The ministry said its teams are working intensively to recover road access and reduce the impact on affected communities.
Technical and logistical preparations are underway for rapid replacement of the destroyed bridge to restore vehicle movement as soon as possible. Digna Sucari, mayor of Río Tambo and president of Mancomunidad del Norvraem, said: “Informamos la emergencia al MTC y ellos inmediatamente han tomado acciones. La maquinaria ya está en la zona y, desde el primer momento, se han tomado decisiones para ejecutar las intervenciones necesarias.”
The ministry continues to monitor conditions in the area while coordinating with local authorities for an efficient response. Parallel efforts are focused on ensuring timely restoration of traffic flow through swift bridge replacement.
