The Ministry of Transport and Communications announced on May 4 that it has completed improvement works on the national route PE-24A, specifically the section between Concepción and Santa Rosa de Ocopa in Junín. The project restored safe transit conditions along a key corridor for local connectivity.

The restoration of this road is important because it helps connect communities, supports economic activities such as agriculture, commerce, and tourism, and reduces travel times for residents. According to the Ministry’s official website, the agency supports cultural and social wellbeing by improving national connectivity and accessibility through enhanced transport and communications infrastructure.

Work was carried out over seven kilometers where the surface had deteriorated due to adverse weather conditions and heavy vehicle traffic. Provías Nacional handled repairs including cement-stabilized base recovery, application of micro-pavement, cleaning and rehabilitation of drainage ditches, as well as installation of vertical and horizontal signage to strengthen road safety. The total investment was about S/ 5.5 million.

Estuardo Tello, subdirector of Conservation at Provías Nacional, inspected the completed section alongside local authorities to evaluate future actions in the region’s road network. As reported by the official website, the Ministry functions as part of Peru’s executive branch with authority to regulate and oversee the transport sector.

The Ministry also operates service centers such as MAC Lima Este and MAC Lima Sur to improve public access across Peru according to its official site. It delivers safe, sustainable, inclusive infrastructure services under ministerial guidance for national integration as stated by the Ministry.

The maintenance of this strategic route is seen as fundamental for ensuring continued service quality in Junín’s communities. The Ministry serves communities throughout Peru according to its official information.
