The Ministry of Transport and Communications announced on Apr. 24 that significant progress has been made on two infrastructure projects in the Ica region: the Chinchaysullo overpass and the San Clemente pedestrian bridge.

These projects are expected to directly benefit more than 240,000 residents in nearby areas and improve safety for millions who travel between Lima and Ica. The ministry said these efforts aim to provide safer roads, enhance traffic flow, and reduce risks for both pedestrians and drivers.

According to the ministry, construction of the Chinchaysullo overpass in Chincha Baja district has reached nearly 20 percent completion with an investment of S/33 million. The San Clemente pedestrian bridge project in Pisco province is about 28 percent complete with S/7.5 million allocated for its execution. Both initiatives are part of a broader package totaling S/726 million for 21 works along the Pucusana–Ica route, managed by Concesionaria Vial del Perú S.A. (COVIPERÚ) under an agreement signed in 2024.

The Ministry of Transport and Communications supports cultural and social wellbeing by improving national connectivity through enhanced transport infrastructure, according to the official website. It operates service centers such as MAC Lima Este and MAC Lima Sur to increase public access across Peru. As part of Peru’s executive branch, it regulates transport and communications sectors nationwide.

The ministry delivers safe, sustainable, and inclusive infrastructure services designed to promote national integration and development according to its official website. It operates under ministerial guidance since beginning operations in 1969. Its role includes managing multimodal connectivity strategies through partnerships with public entities throughout Peru.
