The Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) announced on Apr. 22 that it is providing technical assistance through its Provías Descentralizado unit to implement three new bridges in the province of Oxapampa. The planned bridges will connect the population centers of Paraíso (PA-671), Carapacho (PA-665), and Acuzazu (PA-666).
This initiative aims to improve road connectivity for communities in Oxapampa, which local authorities say is vital due to the area’s significant agricultural and livestock activities. The ability to maintain accessible roads supports both economic activity and residents’ access to basic services.
Aldo Martín Prieto Barrera, Minister of Transport and Communications, met with Euler Osorio Ruiz, the provincial mayor of Oxapampa, along with technical teams from Provías Nacional and Provías Descentralizado. During this meeting, they discussed progress on project planning as well as requirements for preparing and approving technical documents needed for these infrastructure projects.
The meeting also included guidance on emergency response mechanisms such as temporary modular bridges that can be deployed according to current regulations if operationally available. “El MTC reafirma su compromiso de continuar brindando asistencia técnica a los gobiernos locales, en coordinación permanente, a fin de viabilizar proyectos de infraestructura que permitan el desplazamiento seguro de los ciudadanos, carga y mercancías,” said Prieto Barrera.
The Ministry operates under Peru’s executive branch with authority over transport and communications sectors according to the official website.
