The Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) marked its 57th anniversary with a ceremony held on March 30 at its main headquarters. The event included the raising of the national flag and singing of the national anthem, reaffirming the ministry’s commitment to connecting citizens through both physical and digital infrastructure.
The ceremony was led by Vice Minister of Transport Juan Haro Muñoz, Vice Minister of Communications Raúl García Loli, Secretary General Dalia Suárez Salazar, Chief Advisor Ana Reátegui Napurí, as well as other officials and staff members. Delegations from various organizational units and affiliated entities such as Pronatel, ATU, Corpac, Serpost, Enapu, and others were also present.
“We gather today to commemorate a milestone that transcends time. Fifty-seven anniversaries of our beloved institution. Nearly six decades ago, the Ministry of Transport and Communications began its journey with a clear mission: to integrate Peru. Today, fifty-seven years later, that vision not only remains but has become an unwavering commitment,” said Haro Muñoz during his remarks.
Haro Muñoz highlighted the efforts made by ministry staff in launching various transport and telecommunications infrastructure projects across Peru. “We are demonstrating that the Ministry of Transport and Communications is the engine for our country’s development—bridging distances with bridges and roads; modernizing ports and airports; expanding digital connectivity so that internet reaches every corner of our coast, highlands, and jungle,” he said.
He also recognized how sector personnel respond to emergencies as part of their service vocation. “In every decision we make, we first think about the well-being and quality of life for all Peruvians,” Haro Muñoz added.
The broader significance lies in MTC’s ongoing role in reducing geographic barriers within Peru through continued investment in infrastructure projects. Looking ahead, officials indicated they will maintain focus on both physical integration—such as roads—and digital inclusion for all regions.
