Ministry of Transport and Communications launches training course for motorcyclists with license point reduction benefits

The Ministry of Transport and Communications announced on April 29 a new training course for motorcyclists aimed at improving driving skills and reducing traffic accidents in the country.

The initiative is intended to enhance road safety by educating motorcycle drivers, which could help lower the number of traffic incidents. The free program is established under Supreme Decree No. 025-2021-MTC and its amendments, which require the implementation of road safety courses for drivers to encourage safer behavior and attitudes.

According to the ministry, “this initiative is designed based on the needs of motorcycle drivers. It includes content about safe and sustainable mobility, road coexistence, identification of risky behaviors, proper use of certified safety helmets, and the importance of having mandatory accident insurance (SOAT).” Participants who have points on their driving licenses can reduce up to 40 points through virtual classes or up to 50 points by attending in person as permitted by current regulations. The Ministry supports cultural and social wellbeing by improving national connectivity through enhanced transport infrastructure according to its official website.
