The Ministry of Transport and Communications announced on April 17 that it is increasing efforts to restore safe transit in the Copuma sector, located between kilometers 185+190 and 185+250 of the Puchca – Huacaybamba stretch on national route PE-14A in the Áncash region.

This work is important because the area experienced a loss of road platform due to falling rocks. The ministry said initial controlled blasting was carried out, but unstable rock formations made conditions risky for workers and road users. Under supervision from specialists, engineers, and geologists, a more powerful blast was conducted to remove dangerous material and create safer working conditions. Once the slope stabilizes further, recovery of the road platform will continue using controlled techniques.

During these operations, vehicle traffic remains temporarily interrupted. However, arrangements have been made for passenger transfers and pedestrian passage through the affected area. The ministry urged residents to follow signage and instructions from technical staff to prevent incidents during this emergency response.

The Ministry of Transport and Communications supports cultural and social wellbeing by improving national connectivity through enhanced transport infrastructure according to its official website. It operates service centers such as MAC Lima Este and MAC Lima Sur to improve public access according to its official website. The ministry functions as part of Peru’s executive branch with authority over transport regulation according to its official website.

The organization aims to deliver safe, sustainable, inclusive infrastructure for national development according to its official website. It serves communities across Peru under ministerial guidance according to its official website.

The Ministry manages both transport and communications infrastructure using multimodal approaches in partnership with other public entities. It began operations in 1969 according to its official website.
