The Ministry of Transport and Communications announced on April 30 that it has completed the reinforcement work on the Pauluncho Bridge, located at kilometer 158 on the Sihuas – Huacrachuco section of national route PE-12A, in the district of Huacrachuco, Marañón province, Huánuco region.
This project is important because it ensures safe passage for people and goods along a key transportation corridor. The bridge had been affected by erosion and settlement due to water leaks from an irrigation canal and heavy rainfall, which threatened its stability.
According to the announcement, Provías Nacional carried out comprehensive repairs including installing an additional metal module to extend the bridge from 33.53 meters to 36.58 meters. New concrete supports were built, slopes were protected with masonry work and retaining walls, access roads were improved, and the irrigation canal was relocated to prevent further water damage. The works took 45 calendar days with an investment of approximately S/249,862. During construction, vehicle traffic was temporarily restricted but has now returned to normal conditions.
