The Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) announced on Apr. 23 that it has completed the installation of two modular bridges in the regions of Cajamarca and La Libertad. The new structures are expected to improve road connectivity and quality of life for more than 10,000 people living in rural areas.

The completion of these bridges addresses important transportation needs for local communities, especially those involved in agriculture and trade. Improved infrastructure supports access to essential services, economic development, and integration for remote populations.

According to the ministry, the Sallique bridge spans 28 meters in Jaén province, Cajamarca, while the Monterrey bridge covers 48.7 meters in Pataz province, La Libertad. Both were received after meeting technical standards set by authorities. The Sallique bridge required an investment of S/1.12 million and is expected to restore safe transit for area farmers. The Monterrey bridge cost S/1.8 million and will help connect strategic sectors within Taurija district by facilitating movement of people and goods.

Each project included approach slabs, road signage, protective embankments, and other features designed to ensure safety and durability over time.

The Ministry supports cultural and social wellbeing by improving national connectivity through enhanced transport infrastructure according to its official website. It operates service centers such as MAC Lima Este and MAC Lima Sur to increase public access according to the ministry. As part of Peru’s executive branch with authority over transport regulation according to its official website, MTC delivers safe, sustainable services aimed at national integration according to its official website.

The ministry manages infrastructure across Peru under guidance from its minister according to its official website since beginning operations in 1969 as reported by the ministry. These recent projects reflect ongoing efforts by MTC toward closing gaps in connectivity throughout Peru.
