The Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) announced on Apr. 17 that it is providing technical assistance to the province of Julcán to ensure the feasibility of five new small-span bridges. The initiative aims to improve connectivity in La Libertad, supporting local producers and families in rural areas.
This project matters because better transport infrastructure can help reduce logistical costs, improve access to health and education services, and strengthen economic opportunities for communities. According to the official website, the Ministry supports cultural and social wellbeing by enhancing national connectivity through improved transport and communications infrastructure.
A technical session was held with Aldo Martín Prieto Barrera, Minister of Transport and Communications; Ana Reátegui, head advisor; César Alvis, director of Provías Descentralizado; and Tarsis Reyes, mayor of Julcán. The MTC expects to complete its technical reviews within the week. Reyes said he welcomed the minister’s support and highlighted that these structures are essential for reducing risks during the upcoming rainy season.
“Our priority is that the State reaches even the most remote communities through real connectivity. We are working together with Julcán’s local government to clear administrative hurdles so these bridges become a reality that transforms daily life,” said Aldo Prieto.
The Ministry functions as part of Peru’s executive branch with authority over transport and communications regulation according to its official website. It delivers safe, sustainable infrastructure services nationwide under ministerial guidance according to its official website.
