The Ministry of Transport and Communications announced on April 30 its commitment to the development of Selva Central during the seventh session of the Multisectoral Commission for this region, focusing on improving road and digital connectivity for thousands of citizens.
Raúl García Loli, Vice Minister of Communications, said that this intersectoral coordination is important for finding concrete solutions to meet the main needs of rural and indigenous communities. “El viceministro de Comunicaciones, Raúl García Loli, destacó la importancia de este espacio de articulación intersectorial para impulsar soluciones concretas que permitan atender las principales necesidades de las comunidades rurales e indígenas.”
In terms of infrastructure, the ministry announced that two modular bridges—Aguachini and Túpac Amaru—will be added to its 2026 work plan. The goal is to strengthen territorial integration and ensure safer transit. The ministry also reported ongoing efforts to improve local roads connected with five strategic bridges in Oxapampa province, aiming to enhance access across various parts of Selva Central.
On telecommunications, officials said that a regional broadband project in Pasco will begin operations by late July, bringing high-speed internet service to more people. There are also ongoing installations of new 4G mobile stations in several locations to expand coverage and support access to digital services.
These actions are part of policies designed by the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) aimed at closing infrastructure gaps and promoting digital inclusion for remote populations. The MTC supports cultural and social wellbeing by improving national connectivity through enhanced transport and communications infrastructure according to the official website.
